Meet the Chef
He might have traveled the world, but Chef Alfredo Rodriguez Castillo is proud to be from right here, Boquerón! He discovered his passion for the kitchen while working as a server in Joyuda, Cabo Rojo. Chef Alfredo relocated to Florida in the 90s to be mentored by the best chefs throughout Disney World working at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, The Disney Institute, and the Contemporary Resort.
Expanding Horizons
He then went to California in search of the flavors that thrive in its diversity of cultures and cuisines and became an advocate of farm-to-table cooking. While at The Grove of Anaheim, Chef Alfredo cooked front and backstage for Willie Nelson, Tom Jones, James Brown, Donna Summers, Alice Cooper, Gypsy Kings, and many more. He catered for the Tiger Woods’ Golf Block Party and collaborated with celebrity chefs Bobby Flay and Charlie Palmer. His outstanding work landed him on the cover of the nationally recognized Chef Magazine.
Growing Opportunities
Back in Florida, Chef Alfredo became the chef at various renowned hotels including Gloria Estefan’s Cardozo Hotel in Miami Beach. He catered the Premios Lo Nuestro Awards and the Univision Holiday Party. With family, he owned the Oakwood Bistro Restaurant and later, a catering/personal chef company. One of his creative dishes was showcased on the cover of the American Express Dining Guide and the restaurant was recognized by the Orlando Magazine as one of the 100 best local restaurants two years in a row.
A Return to Roots
Most recently, Chef Alfredo lived in Atlanta where he led the opening of the exclusive Marquee Club for the Fox Theatre. After months of travel and research, Chef and his wife Beatriz decided to return to their roots and open Chef Alfredo Kitchen & Bar to delight locals and tourists alike.
